This major project involved linking three prestigious Grade I town houses designed by John Nash to form one large property. Extensive under-pavement vaults were to be used for plant rooms and Stonehouse was asked to design and install a waterproofing system that would comply with the demands of the freeholders The Crown Estate, English Heritage and Westminster Council.

A cavity drain membrane system was selected. This has a tolerance when dealing with the larger vault spaces which are more prone to movement and flexing of the vault fabric under London’s roads. The system is also reversible and can be adjusted in the future as the plant rooms are upgraded with minimal disruption. We managed to drain the Basedrain into existing gullies without the requirement for sumps and pumps which reduces maintenance in the future.
