TINBERGEN, OXFORD UNIVERSITY

Diagnosis
Oxford University’s Tinbergen Building, houses the departments of zoology, experimental psychology and biochemistry. This project was to create a sympathetic extension to a Sir Leslie Martin 1965 design. A large welded sheet pile basement has been installed to hold new chemistry laboratories.

Solution
Our client Oxford University were looking for the highest specification possible and full confidence that there would be no future risk of water ingress. Therefore we designed and applied a complicated and detailed capping beam waterproofing system, an internal Newton 107F application to the floor slab and a full Type C cavity drain membrane system internally with pumped drainage.
