The iconic Earls Court Exhibition Centre has been demolished and the land developed for housing as part of Terry Farrell’s Earls Court master plan.We were consulted at an early stage to be part of the design team responsible for the formation of water tight basement areas within the first phase. This would include the exclusive luxury Private Residents Club serving the full development.

No future moisture ingress would be acceptable in areas where finishes are of the very highest quality and no disruption to club members would be tolerated. To achieve this, we designed a system according to the principles outlined in BS8102:2009 and used three forms of waterproofing.

  • – An external Type A membrane.
  • – An integral water resistant, Type B concrete structure.
  • – Stonehouse installed a full internal Newton Type C cavity drain membrane system with 4 sump chambers, 8 sump pumps and 4 battery back-up systems together with the targeted application of Newton 107F reinforcement at vulnerable positions within the construction.

Our system forms the crucial final barrier to water ingress and has an extendable 10 Year guarantee with independent insurance backing. We will service the pumps annually and provide support if required.The basement Clubhouse provides hotel-style facilities for the residents including lounge, library, private dining room, cinema, spa and 20 metre swimming pool with jacuzzi.
