This Grade II Listed building has been converted into flats. The architects originally specified a full Sika cementitious render system to the entire basement. This however is an inappropriate system for a listed building, due to its high cement content and preparation for bonding would have removed all historic surface finishes. This is also an irreversible method of waterproofing.
Stonehouse suggested and designed a new reversible specification using cavity drain membrane – this proposal was approved by the client’s historic building consultant and the local conservation officer. This system was completed significantly below the original budget.
