DEFRA required more working space in their land-locked Whitehall headquarters. The existing sub-basement had wet earth retaining walls and could only be used for damp storage and as plant rooms. The concrete slabs had already been cast and could not be disturbed.
This lowest level was completely stripped out and the floor slab was dry. We upgraded the area to office space through a cavity drain membrane system – the use of the Newton Baseboard isolated our works to the walls. Water ingress was then ducted through the baseboard to sump chambers. Throughout our works, plant rooms were able to function continuously and the offices above were not disrupted.
