Our surveys are sometimes unpredictable. This client didn’t know why a vertical timber had suddenly deteriorated, but the timber frame cottage had an unusual attacker – a woodpecker.
The oak post had been softened by wet rot due to a defective gutter. It was however too small a section to provide a home for the noisy family!
